Five of the country's police officers have been farewelled by the Deputy Commissioner and the Ministry of Police, Prisons and Corrections Services' management, as they prepare to travel to carry out peacekeeping duties under the flag of the United Nations.
The five selected include two female police officers. The Ministry has not disclosed on its social media which country they will be working in, or how long they will be away from the Ministry and their families.
The group is led by Inspector Faamatala Vaalele Tuvale, supported by Senior Sergeant Fa'afetai Opeta Auva'a and Sergeant Faatonu Leava.
Corporal Saisirita Uelese Tufuga and Constable Pulemau Vito Uta'i are also part of the group.
Deputy Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga represented the Ministry in delivering words of advice and guidance to the five officers, urging them to work faithfully and obediently and to remember the good name of Samoa, as well as the Ministry and their families, who will be supporting them in prayer as they carry out their duties for United Nations peacekeeping.
